I was originally based in the UK with my wife and child, however, having secured a new position in the Isle of Man, I had to begin laying the groundwork to be able to accommodate a smooth transition. We agreed it was better to rent a property as we were not really familiar with Isle of Man and hence, we needed a bedding in period. The plan seemed full proof and on the surface looked a reasonable undertaking, unfortunately, what wasn't built into the equation was the time required to actually look for a property. The role with was very demanding of my time and the time available to look for accommodation didn't fall in line with Estate Agents. I was in somewhat of a dilemma and made mention of this to a couple of colleagues at work, who in turn directed me to Steve Parry. The sequence of events, after the initial contact, is outlined below:
- I contacted Steve on 26 January 2007 (by e-mail).
- He replied the very same day and arranged a meeting for 28 January 2007.
- On 28 January (Sunday), he came over to my hotel and we discussed what I was looking for and the price range. We discussed issues around prefer ability of location based on his knowledge of the isle of Man along with my availability at short notice to view properties.
- Monday 29 January 2007, Steve had arranged a viewing of 2 properties that could be accommodated during the lunch hour.
- Tuesday 30 January 2007, Steve, had arranged a further 2 viewings again around the lunch hour.
- I was fairly happy with what I had been shown but I wasn't blown away and asked that he kept looking.
- On 2 February 2007, I went back to the UK for the weekend and all during this period Steve was in constant contact with me.
- These sequence of events continued for a further week and by 16 February 2007, he had found a property that met all my requirements and I signed the contracts and moved in on 27 February 2007.
What I was blown away with was the speed by which the undertaking was delivered, but more importantly, the time saved on this issue. This allowed me to concentrate on my new role without this added pressure. Looking back, I found Steve's services invaluable and would recommend his services to anybody looking to relocate to the Isle of Man. Apart from the fact that he managed to find me what I wanted in a very short period of time, I was also highly impressed with the manner in which the whole undertaking was conducted, it was very professional.
